Somatic Yin Yoga Pose

Somatic Yin Yoga Teacher Training in Thun – Yin Yoga, TCM and somatic bodywork

The training is 80 hours in three modules. Each module is a long weekend from Friday to Sunday. You combine Yin Yoga with somatic bodywork that focuses on body awareness, nervous system regulation and inner experience. The training is taught in German.

It is suited to all yoga practitioners, body therapists and yoga teachers.

‍

Module 1: Yin Yoga foundation training

The goal is for you to be able to teach a Yin Yoga class with all 35 asanas and their variations.

  • What Yin Yoga is: Yin and Yang, introduction to fascia
  • All 35 asanas broken down in detail, with variations, alternatives and props
  • Anatomy after Paul Grilley: 14 joint segments, compression and tension, individual bone structure and its influence on the poses
  • MyoYin: Yin Yoga with trigger-point massage using balls
  • Videos on anatomy and current fascia research
  • Movement analysis in groups, structure of a Yin class and functional teaching

‍

Module 2: Introduction to TCM, meridians and the five elements

You deepen the energetic effect of Yin Yoga and your understanding of fascia, in theory and practice.

  • Basics of TCM: meridians, the flow of qi and the 12 main meridians with their functions
  • The five elements and the constitution types
  • Blockages in the energy system and their physical, mental and emotional effects
  • Integrating mudras into practice
  • Yintelligence and MyoYin
  • Modern meridian theory after Dr. Motoyama, fascia and tensegrity, hyaluronic acid
  • Understanding pain: how pain arises, the impact of emotional stress, back complaints and disc problems
  • Yin on the wall with a focus on shoulder and neck
  • Teaching in pairs and small groups

‍

Module 3: Somatic Yin Yoga, myofascial release and Yintelligence

You combine classic Yin poses with somatic bodywork. There is plenty of time for practice: the whole body is massaged, mobilised and stretched, and the nervous system is regulated.

  • Basics of Somatic Yin Yoga (Yintelligence)
  • Joint mobilisation for the whole body
  • Myofascial release with the tennis ball and various self-massage techniques
  • Stimulating acupuncture points in the poses
  • Stimulating lymph flow
  • Causes of fascia disorders, trigger points, typical complaints in back, shoulders, hips and knees and how to treat them
  • Structure of a Somatic Yin class with sequence suggestions
  • Handout workbook

‍

Effect of Somatic Yin Yoga

According to the provider, slow joint movements, long-held passive stretches, self-massage, acupuncture points and gentle isometric exercises support mobility, posture, the release of tension and relaxation on a physical, mental and emotional level.
